No, nothing wrong with the quote on the Golden Spike. It made a lot of sense at the time. But why was it chosen among the very few quotes for our Passport?

Good question, but you've got me wondering -- who chooses these quotes, and why would they be in a passport to begin with? I thought all a passport was, was official evidence of one's entering into or presence in a foreign country (and/or return to the US), and for no other purpose. So why would it be important to include any quotes at all? I mean, that seems about as relevant to a passport as graffiti on a wall. Government, go figure
