HAMPTON, Va. A dozen people have made Fort Monroe National Monument in Virginia the last stop in their tour of all 397 facilities in the National Park System.
The members of the National Park Travelers Club completed the feat Friday. The National Park Service says theyare among only 20 people known to have visited all the parks.
The clubs president emeritus, Nancy Bandley of Orange County, Calif., was among those visiting Fort Monroe.
She says the quest dates to 1986 and has taken her and others to every state in the union, as well as some American territories. The group had more traveling to do after Fort Monroe and two other facilities were added to the system last year.

An impressive accomplishment
I would love to do something like this in a congenial group. One more year and I am freeeeeeee!
We visit as many National Parks and monuments as we can. It becomes addicting and a reason to stir from home.
If you like to travel and visit our wonderful parks and monuments, make a point of buying a National Park Passport book. Every visitors center has a passport stamp station. The book is divided into regions with different colored rubber stamp ink for all the locations in the region. The stamps are dated so you have a permanent record of the date of the visit.
Also, if you are old enough buy a Golden Age Pass. It permits free entry to all sorts of Federal places and especially campgrounds for free. You sometimes need to pay a concessionaire’s fee but it is still a very good deal.
