James McCartney sounds like a humble guy. I like Sean’s music (thank God it’s not Yoko’s son wanting in on it—ugh!).

Can a next generation of the Monkees be far behind?

And those Beatle’s offspring are just some of the ones we know about!

Simple answer: No. And I'd love for this to happen, because I'm one of the biggest Beatles freaks you'll ever meet, but it ain't gonna fly.

Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and John Lennon were brilliant musicians and composers who providence put together at the right point in history to form arguably the greatest collaborative team in rock history. Add in Ringo's drumming, and the whole was far greater than the sum of its parts.

No disrespect to their kids, who might be good musicians, etc., but they're just not going to be able to recreate that kind of alchemy just because they received 50% of their DNA from a Beatle.

Beatles offspring could form next generation band

The title provides an excellent idea for the band's name:

The BeatOffs.

So they leave out Julian Lennon, the only one of the Beatles kids who can actually sing? Yep...sounds like a plan.

Maybe they could do a remake of MUSKRAT LOVE. That’s my favorite Beatles song.

The 34-year-old musician, who is following his famous father's footsteps into the industry, said that forming a band with fellow Beatles children Sean Lennon (son of John Lennon), Dhani Harrison (son of George Harrison) and Zak and Jason Starkey (Ringo Starr's sons) was not out of the question.

This is a great idea, 20 years ago.

I have long considered that the only way for a musical group to continue for any length of time is to rotate all members of the group out and replace them with fresh talent periodically, one at a time.

While doing so seems to be a “cheat” of sorts, it has some decided advantages. The first of these is that it elevates young new talent to the top during their most creative and productive years, instead of them having to be a small businessman with a startup while trying to create.

When someone is rotated out, they can either do a solo career or join a different group.

Seems like this ended before it began.

According to the latest sources, James McCartney is backing off his earlier statements. He now states, "I was just thinking outloud."

Apparently they felt anything short of the acomplishments of their fathers would fizzle pretty quickly.

Can't say I blame him.

Zac Starkey drummed with The Who. I saw him on that tour and thought he was pretty good.

It would be cool, I suppose, but John Lennon started the Beatles when they were closer to 20 than 50.
