“Perhaps its because he may not understand various slang terms that reporters might use when asking their questions and prefers the translator so that he will not answer incorrectly. ??”
Give him some slack as Darvish is a rookie and has an excuse. (Although I think the Rangers are idiots for paying him $52 mil just to TALK to him..THEN pay ANOTHER $50 mil as salary).
American players who play in Japan are assigned translators too. On the M’s we now have THREE japanese players and Ichiro shares his with Kawasaki, a utility player. But at least Kawasaki learns both English and Spanish. Ichiro has no excuses for the translator.
I wasn’t referring to Ichiro, but to Darvish who also uses a translator.
I agree that Ichiro should be speaking excellent English now after so many years here in the US.
By the medical definition, if you are drinking 15 beers every night, you are technically an alcoholic.
I just drink until I get sleepy, not drunk, and never have a hangover even though I average around 15 each night.
You are a drunk. You need help if what you say is true. Good news though, you aren’t the first to drink 15 beers every night and not get drunk, just sleepy.
Also, there is no shame being a drunk...........just one that drinks is shameful.
15 beers a night is a lot but hey, you’re 69 and at home...it’s your business
not mine
my wife and other family like drinking...I never much cared for it
i liked chasing girls...liquor seemed to get in the way...it was good when they drank some though
how many times a night you have to get up to pee?
man..i’d pee all night
at 54 I still sleep thru most nights even with coffee late but it’s pushing it

“I’m not an advocate of alcoholism any means. It is a disease. But if you have to have a disease, that’s the best one to have. It’s the only one where you get to drink all the time. In fact, that IS the disease!”
When I said 15 beers a night, I failed to mention that my “nights” are from around 5pm until 5-6am. That’s a span of around 12-13 hours, so my drinking is barely over one beer per hour and includes a supper during that time. I don’t get drunk.
To answer wardaddy’s question about how many times I get up during my bedtime... Usually once after I’ve been asleep about 6 hours. I normally start my “day” around noon or 1pm, and don’t drink during the day while working in the yard or driving around doing errands.
Well... I suppose that’s enough about my personal life. lol
Put it to you this way: in the pure hypothetical, if for some reason you were arrested for something and went before a judge, and say he determined that the court wanted you screened by medical doctors and authorities. They would perform an "intake" on you, to include blood tests, blood pressure, a rudimentary physical examination, and a battery of screening questions.
They would go over your drinking frequency and drinking history.
I guarantee you, with 100% certainty, that based on your answers here, they would classify you as an alcoholic.
Try to give it up, just for a few days. If you manifest any of withdrawal symptoms such as insomnia, agitation, palpitations, upset stomach, migraines, restlessness, or sweating, it should give you pause.
Take care.
