And with that, Mr. Jaffe in a single moment, destroyed about five months of work by a host of people, and killed one of the greatest ideas of all time.

Uhmm....OK.

I’ve been a Trek fan since the days of Commander Pike. But $150,000,000 just to build the thing? Call me myopic but I don’t think it would have the staying power to pay for itself.

A curiosity is one thing. A $150,000,000 curiosity is something else entirely.

Well, at least some make their dreams come true.

I had the same idea way back when - “The Hotel Enterprise”, only I never thought of Vegas, my version stood alone somewhere on the Great Plains, which is as far as it ever went; some neat pictures in my head.

I don’t know... You can be sure of one thing: those guys in Vegas know how to count the money. If all the area hotels/casinos were behind it, they had already calculated the payback, and decided that the increased traffic to their establishments would have more than covered their share of the cost... I’ve seen the overhead screen, and while it’s cool, it’s no match for the Enterprise.

I’ve been a Star Trek fan since it first aired but I’m not a Trekkie by any means. However a full sized Starship would be too cool. The rest of Vegas has little attraction for me so I’ve never been there. Went through Sparks and Reno once, pulled the handles on a few slots and was bored to death within an hour.

I never missed an episode of B5 while it was on. My 12 year old still plays the DVDs almost daily. Both were great shows.

Now, imagine if they built a full-sized Babylon Station in Las Vegas. Or even a B5 styled hotel.

I’d gladly go to a B5 styled place.

The DVDs are around here but aren’t watched hardly. Every now and then Youtube recommends a clip or two and I watch them.

I’ve met most of the B5er’s at different Dragoncons except for Sheridan and Sinclair. They all seemed genuinely gracious for the fanbase that showed up. Peter Jurasik (my favorite alien) overheard us one time saying that we had gotten married a few weeks before. He gave us an autograph.

For the few years we went after that and he was there, he called us “the married kids”.

There weren’t any B5s around at the last dragoncon. Even Claudia Christian was a mainstay for a while. She was always so great to hang around.

She was one of the first autographs at a con I ever got. The line for her was so long that year when we got a couple people away she needed to take a break to rest her hand and get a drink. It was hot in there. When she came back, she was so apologetic to me and my wife. It wasn’t necessary. She stood up and gave me a hug. I have a the old film photo stored somewhere. I look silly.

That would’ve been ginormous! Maybe if they had started smaller ... like the Millennium Falcon or something.

-—... like the Millennium Falcon or something.——

How about the Death Star, with the Falcon approaching it? That would be fun, and easier to build.

You are quite correct. If they had built that I would have moved to LV just to work there and be able to see it all the time.

It’d be fun to say, “Yeah, I worked on the star ship Enterprise,” especially if it was at a job interview.

This would have been the only thing that could have gotten me to consider going to Vegas.
