A peaceful and stable Pakistan is integral to western efforts to pacify Afghanistan, but Islamabads obsessions with its giant eastern neighbor may render such issues moot.
Since partition in 1947, Pakistan and India have fought four armed conflicts, in 1947, 1965, 1971 (which led to the establishment of Bangladesh, formerly East Pakistan) and the 1999 Kargil clash.
With the exception of the 1971 conflict, which involved rising tensions in East Pakistan, the others have all involved issues arising from control of Kashmir.
But now a rising new element of discord threatens to precipitate a new armed clash between southern Asias two nuclear powers water.
Lahores The Nation newspaper on Sunday published an editorial entitled, War with India inevitable: Nizami, the newspapers Editor-in-Chief and Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust Chairman, Majid Nizami, asked his fellow citizens to prepare for a war with India over water issues. Nizami told those attending the Pakistan-India relations; Our rulers- new wishes session at Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan, which he chaired, Indian hostilities and conspiracies against the country will never end until she is taught a lesson.
While The Nation is a conservative daily, part of the Nawa-i-Waqt publishing group, with a circulation of roughly 20,000, it has a website, and whats more, close ties to Pakistans highest military circles, so Nizamis comments should hardly be rejected out of hand. You imply three wars, bananaman.
Let us pray for peace between these two nuclear powers. But if there is war, let us hope the Hindus slap the Muslims down QUICKLY.
Hopefully all their nukes will be used in theater and only between the two warring powers.
It’s imminent this story will be posted three times...
The foreign powers that be know that Obozo will soon be gone and if they are going to make their move they must do so now. Or the new POTUS will kick their a$$ if they try to hurt an ally of the U.S.
just waiting for the argentinians to steal the falklands from the brits since they know zero will support them
With American involvement in Afghanistan winding down, American funding will also wind down. A future Republican president would be smart to make alliance with India and dump Pakistan, and then green-light India getting harsh towards Pakistan.
The article also mentioned a treaty of alliance between Pakistan and China. China and India have had conflicts, and border disputes along the Himalayas.
India vs Pakistan would have Pakistan losing quickly. China plus Pakistan vs India would have India losing quickly. China has internal conflicts, and a war is traditionally the way to unify your people.
The Argies would be lucky to get within 5 miles of the maritime exclusion zone before they got sent to the bottom of the South Atlantic if they tried that again...
Yep, the Commies feel empowered since Obozo has US under control.
Vermin.
Thanks for the article.
If war between China and India has even half a chance of being imminent, the US will be dragged into it just as much as Russia would be, too, both siding with India and unwilling to risk a Chinese control of the Subcontinent.
In other words, America will be forced to shed blood to ensure that China does not become dominant in Asia. There simply is no other option.
