My wife is a principal in an Elementary school.

The school population is 60% "economically disadvantaged" (not sure where this fits WRT the "poverty level").

They are in the bottom 10% for household income in the state.

Many of the children have neglectful, abusive home lives. She deals with Child Protective Services with heart-breaking regularity.

50% of students take home backpacks with food from the local food pantry every Friday so they have something to eat over the weekend.

They are in the TOP 2% for Elementary schools for academics in the state.

All because she and her staff tell them "you can and will behave" and "you can and will achieve".

God Bless your wife and her staff!

Do you happen to know where her school district stands with Net Current Expenditures (NCE) per Pupil *(NCEP)*?

The fact that they are They are *in the TOP 2% for Elementary schools for academics in the state.* speaks wonders.

A large urban district I am familiar with up here in CT, has a NCEP of $81,451 ...and must be in the bottom 2% of performance.

Much has been said about blaming teachers for performance up her, of late, when your wife well knows, it’s the value the parents/family place on education.
