A diverse group of figures, including music legend Bob Dylan and astronaut John Glenn, will receive the nation's highest civilian honour from US President Barack Obama, the White House said Thursday.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is awarded for contributions to US interests, world peace or cultural endeavours. The White House tapped 13 recipients from the world of diplomacy, arts sports and sciences.
Madeleine Albright, who served as the first female secretary of state under president Bill Clinton from 1997 to 2001, and Israeli President Shimon Peres are to be honoured for their contributions to foreign policy.

I lost respect for him lomg before impeachment . On a side note , I have a close friend that worked for NASA ( shuttle program ). She said all the astronaut’s hated the entire fiasco . Glenn had to be babysat the whole trip while he puked ahd $hit , non stop . She’s retired now , but says NASA people , both dem and rep can’t stand obama . Big surprise .
Considering how 0bama has gutted NASA and depressed the economy of the space coast, it is a wonder he even has a chance in Florida.
The highest US honor ain’t so high any more.
Obama I believe has been stalking Dylan - trying to make it appear that Dylan is in step with Obama.
When Dylan performed at an event in the White House celebrating the Civil Rights movement he went through Secret Service security check - performed a mic check (not OWS crap) and then left the White House. Only to return again 2 hours later to once again undergo secret service security check. Any one who knows what a student of history Dylan is would wonder why he did not remain in the White House before and after his performance.(he left right after performing and did not stay for the finale or photo w Obama) I contend he was honored to be part of the event but did not want to be Obama’s pawn.
For Dylan’s sake - if this next event is at the White House please give him some private time in the Lincoln War/Bedroom and let’s look forward to the next album.

My first thought, also.
I was remembering this too. i think almost everything obamma does has a juvenile element of a eff-u to it. He felt dissed by dylan the last time and now he(dylan) is effectively forced to accept and have his picture, hand-shaking blah blah again.
also, i love bob dylans music from the last 10-15 years and theme time radio was awesome!
also, jack white’s new album is good.
