I thought full removal from the gene pool (death) was required of Darwin Award winners. Anyway, if there was ever any doubt how dumb some of the populus is,then this is a case study.

I thought (and reserve the right to be completely wrong) that you could recieve one for death n a spectacular fashion or documented sterility, prior to generating any offspring.
I thought they did offer honorable mentions for near death events of a spectacular nature. Such as the Raccoon rocket or the weather balloon guy that flew over LAX.

There was once a Darwin Award winner who tried to replace a fuse in his car with a live .22 shell. When he completed the circuit, the bullet fired and hit him in the testicles.
