I’m so turned off with JCP anymore. Have found other places to spend my money. Was visiting a family member in FL back in March. We went to Penney’s...the place was near empty on a Saturday morning about 11:00. From there, we went just up the road to Bell’s (Beal’s?)...something like that...comparable to Kohl’s. The place was packed. They had great sales going on. At the JCP store, at least the one in FL that we visited, they no longer have sales...the price you see is what you pay. Realistically, I just don’t think they’re going to last.

Supposedly, they lowered all their prices, and then that's what you pay. I doubt that, but, that was what they were saying at the end of last year. They also said that all the sales circulars they would send out irritated people. Yeah, I was so irritated about saving money.

I just went in one of their stores yesterday to pick up something. My youngest daughter would find stuff in there and last year my eldest found a nice dress for work; but, it is empty in there. I agree with those on the thread that say that Pennys is probably done. Too bad.

1920s—Palais Royal and Bealls are founded as Family Owned Businesses. In 1988, Three Bealls Brothers merged with Palais Royal to form Specialty Retailers Inc.(SRI), a private company based in Houston. In 1992, SRI acquired 76 store retail chain Fashion Bar of Denver, whose stores included a Juniors’ chain called Stage. In 1994, 45 Beall-Ladymon stores were acquired and the names were changed to Stage.

Pronounced "Bells" . Started in E.Texas by brothers. Has morphed into bigger things. They were highly underrated as a good clothing store when i shopped there back in the 80s. The brothers were from my moms small E TX town and they very conservative.

the price you see is what you pay.

That just another gimmick, judging by the layoffs it's not working.

I used to shop at Penney's a lot. I've not been back since this new campaign, for a variety of reasons.

However, the last time I went, I replaced all of the bed pillows in the house. After Sales, and coupons, and more markdowns, it wound up being 3 or 4 bucks a pillow (for the good ones, not the cheap ones).

Mrs WBill used to clean up on clothes there, too, with much the same results.

Sez me, if you wind up selling merch for less than you originally paid, it's not a good business model.
