For what it’s worth:
Dr Mary Newport’s husband was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers. During her research on this condition, she learned that ketones from medium chain triglycerides actually are an alternative fuel for brain and neurological tissues. Her husband responded remarkably well to this treatment. As she began publicizing this information, people began giving her positive feed back for other conditions besides Alzheimers, such as ALS, parkinsons, and epilepsy.
IMHO, it is something to look into.

Sadly, our diets and environment have contributed to this epidemic of the various neurodegenerative diseases of the 2 nd half of life — Gehrig’s, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s.
Those who still can, try to prevent these. Eat very little to no grains, no vegetable oils ( so try to avoid most restaurant food), eat high quality fish oil, or lots of oily fish, cod liver oil, coconut oil, olive oil (but only on cold foods), meat from clean, grassfed animals. Also, no crash dieting or bypasses — the toxins in your fat cells rush into the body too fast and can help cause Gehrig’s.
There is some evidence that too many vaccines as a child can lead to chronic diseases of the brain like this too.
Try and live clean.

Yes, coconut oil a few times daily can allow even the sick brain some fuel to not sink further and to experience some lift of symptoms! It can be a miracle for those afflicted.

Prayers keep coming in and I feel I should keep thanking those that are sending them up. Thanks to all for the prayers and the advice. I told my brother about this thread and he was very grateful to you all. He doesn’t own a computer so is not a FReeper.
To all of those who sent up prayers, thank you. Thought you might like an update, I received news just this morning that my brother died in his sleep early this morning. Causes are not known at this time because his ALS hadn’t progressed to that point yet. I am deeply saddened, of course, but in a way I am grateful. He has been spared the agony of dying slowly inch by inch from ALS. Once again, Thanks to all of you for your prayers and your advice.
I am sorry for the death of your brother. My own died in 2007. He was 35 years old. He was a paranoid schizophrenic and his doctors overdosed him. I feel for you. I really do. You have no idea.
