For all the Cinco de Mayo revelers that may have one too many drinks, AAA and Budweiser have your back.
The two companies have partnered in the Tow to Go program that offers free towing services to any Florida resident on certain holidays, according to the AAA website.
The program is meant to protect the streets from drunken drivers and car collisions and will tow drivers and their cars safely home, according to a release.
AAA received 3,000 calls in 2011 and since the programs inception in 1998, more than 18,000 drunk drivers have been removed from the roads, the website states.
Call 1-800-AAA-HELP for more information.

That’s a pretty good idea, actually. Back in the 1970s and 1980s here in Toronto, public transit was free on New Year’s Eve. A major distillery picked up the tab.

Not a fake holiday like that “African” invention for Christmas, but neither is it an American holiday.

I actually have to agree with this, too. Even though bars are big on offering taxi rides, a lot of people don’t want their car left at the bar and risk driving home.

I have known numerous ways to get my car towed for free. Getting it back is what costs the money.

I don’t know if it’s still in business, but several years ago someone started a service here where you could call from a bar and they would come over and drive you home in your own car.

I would suggest to AAA that in fairness to some other driver needing a tow that AAA tabulate and offer as many tows as tabulated for some other unfortunate driver.

Very simple. Before calling AAA, have a good strong drink, or use Binaca if alcohol is not an option (claim you've been drinking Schnapps). If you can't start your car, tell them you dropped the keys in the seat, or somewhere, maybe outside in the dark. Fortunately, it is unlocked and in neutral, with the parking brake on. If the battery is dead, tell them you left the lights on in your inebriated state, etc. etc.
