Just send them a bill for the materials!

And librarians have the nerve to act so offended when people wonder why we pay them so much to do so little.

As I predicted a couple of years ago, Public Libraries will soon have SWAT units to swoop down on the (wrong) houses of those with overdue library books.

Frankly, this disgraceful wave wave of overdue books must stop.(Damn that George Bush. This is all his fault!) Mowing down a few family pets at the wrong house with M-16 fire should frighten the peasants into returning those books and CD's NOW.

Don't forget to taser the little thief, just on general principles. Maybe they can stop her heart.

That'll show all the other preschoolers embarking on a life of crime that they don't f**k with the Government.

I bought two Kindle Touch’s, one for myself and one for my son. Best part is I can delete any downloaded e-book on either from my PC or my Samsung galaxy smartphone.

Or return unauthorized purchases.

Naturally, her death will be an “isolated incident.”

This is getting ridiculous. We see police called with pepper spray and tasers for kids who act up in kindergarten and now this.

We really have become a police state.

Meanwhile, Jon Corzine is apparently getting away with making $1.6 billion disappear.

But we must track down those missing library books!!

Don’t forget about shooting her dog also! Make sure she see her dog being shot!

Might as well shoot up her bedroom also!

What is the matter with her parents? A 4-year-old is not going to be able to trot on down to the library alone! Not to mention that using the jack-booted thugs against a 4-year-old is overkill.

Laugh now, but what if this little terrorist was armed with a sippy cup full of milk when they sent an ordinary officer, without backup? Hunh? THEN WHAT?

Juvenile Showers Taunter With Jug of Milk Charged With Battery

Then they might have had to take her down like Kelly Thomas, this time making sure there were no video cameras around, so they could claim that she was "resisting".

After all, ANYONE in the US can be a danger to the authoritays:

My thoughts too - the girl may have only been 3 when the books were checked out 240 days before. Does the library have a "feel good" policy where it issues cards to toddlers?

Police needed to get overdue library books back from 4-year-old irresponsible adult

Fixed the idiotic headline. The 4 year old isn't old enough to accept a certified letter nor is he/she old enough to pay the fine or drive to the library. He/she is a minor. The police and the library went after the parents. Is it any wonder we can't get the real story on the faker in the WH when the msm can't print a silly overdue book story accurately.

My daughter has to have a library card of her own to use the kid computers at the library, so she has her own card. She checked out books (at 7) in her name. I thought I’d returned everything. We came back another week and I couldn’t check out books until her book was returned. They told me the fine I owed for it being late but not the title, because of her privacy rights. I said it was a violation of common sense to expect me to find a book without telling me the title.
We finally got a copy of the prior borrowing receipt at home and found the book on my son’s book shelf, but now all books are checked out on my card.

Exactly right, the parents are responsible for this. If they ignored all those letters then they should be billed the full cost, not just $81.

So far as making a court case, don’t the courts have enough to do already, on any given day there’s lots of urban thugs to process and let loose.

If you had listened to the story you would know that the library is run with volunteer staff, i.e. they get paid zippo. But noooo.......

My daughter was arrested and spent several nights in jail in Texas for not paying her library fines. She still has the book too.
