[Why So Serious]

In high school Mitt Romney supposedly held a kid down with the help of four others and cut his hair. Because he was gay?

Mitt was born in 1947, assuming that one graduates high school at 18 that would make this incident take place no later than 1965. Let us assume that it was senior year and it was 1965. Who was gay in 1965. I graduated in 1980 and I can tell you that I never heard of a gay kid in my high school which was in the middle of Chicago. I find it extremely hard to believe that Mitt did what he did in the 1960s for the reason stated.

I will admit that at the park that I hung out at there were the "Greasers" [bear drinkers]and the "Freaks" [pot-heads]and it was not unheard of for a couple of Greasers to grab a Freak and cut his hair. But not because he was gay.

Let's focus more on the here and now. Does the guy that had his hair cut have a job, a house, and a pension?

I remember in So Cal in the mid ‘60’s, a “long hair” being chased across the JC campus because he had LONG HAIR. The “long hairs” were consciences objectors and those who were against the Vietnam War. It had nothing to do with being gay.

Of course there were gay people then, but they were “in the closet”, not outwardly trying to change their acts to be “normal” and force them upon everyone, including children.
There seems to be no shame in this world anymore.

The gay better hope that the entire world does not follow their lead. If we were all gay they would not even be here to protest. They should thank God that their parents were not gay. Oh, buy a baby from a sperm bank. No real love or affection required. Maybe, you can one day buy one with just the right looks and intelligence.

What if Rock Hudson had come forward early in his career and told all. Do you think he would still have been a respected actor? No, that’s is why he waited until he was dying.

You are exactly right. This type behavior 50 years ago was an extreme embarrassment very much similar to being pregnant and not married.

The first thing that I thought of was that I never heard the term gay in high school during the 60’s.

The mid-sixties is about when the term began to gain currency, as a replacement for "queer".

But the funny thing is, the word "gay" has evolved to take on more or less the common meaning of "queer", only with additional prejudice. I remember my high-school aged nephew exclaiming that something that happened at school was "just gay!", meaning perverse and unjust (it had nothing to do with sex).
