Thay were seen in Florida before. Mr. Carr saw a large one about 1.5 miles from my place in the ‘Glades. It was long enough to have head and tail well hidden in the brush alongside the 8 foot wide road.

He stoped his car to avoid hitting it. From the color and pattern, he knew it was not a diamond back rattler or a water moccasin. As he approached, the head came into view and reared up a few feet - then the hood spread out.

He left.

Too bad he didn’t run over it. He called Haasat at the Serpentarium and was told another had been reported some 50 miles away. Haast’’s comment is worth remembering: “Let’s hope they never meet>’

I have enough dealing with the indigenous vipers, pythons, green anacondas and the uniformed snakes in the grass. Cobras
