It was the most lavish party in Cannes, with tickets going for a whopping $7,500 a pop. But Sean Penn didn't let the prestigious tone of the Haiti: Carnival In Cannes gala stop him from turning the air blue with some carefully chosen words during a speech on behalf of his Haitian Relief Organisation. The actor stunned guests including Ewan McGregor, Gerard Butler, Diane Kruger and Jessica Chastain with his expletive-ridden speech, which he confessed was made 'under the influence of vodka.'

He continued that Haiti should be helped because it was just an hour away from 'the richest f***ing country in the world'.

So what, Sean?

Haiti is the source of all of its own misery.

Nobody in the U.S. owes them a ddmn thing.

I liked him as Spicolli in Fast Times At Ridgemont High. And then it all just went downhill from there...

He did so well in that role because he simply played him self.

Maybe he and George Clooney can throw a $35,000 per person party and give the proceeds to Haiti?

Or maybe ask Bono to donate his FaceBook $Billions?

Or Oprah’s $$ ?

Hollywood is rolling in the stuff.

What happened to all the billions that have already been sent there?
How much does it cost to build a house there? $30k or less? One billion $ builds 30,000 homes or more. Where are they?
Why is the help not working?

These campaigns by these jester jerks, like George Crooney and the all rest of them, really are ego-fueled power plays. They are wannabe politicos who have the fortune and now pursue power by controlling the wealth of others and choosing where it flows. The cause here is poor Haiti— it could be poorer Congo, a project to save the oceans’ starfish or galactic comet care and preservation. The payoff is to revel in being the savior and imposing their will upon the unwashed. I got yer number, Spicoli.

Huck Faiti.

AFAIC, Haiti is one of those hopeless and helpless s**tholes that should be nuked from orbit.

Absolutely *NOTHING* can be done for that country. You could dump in the entire GDP of Canada, and it would just swirl down the black hole and never be seen again.

Questions for the serious FReeper:

1. How long has Haiti been getting relief from the US and the rest of the world?

2. How much, in dollars, has Haiti received from the US and the rest of the world in the last, say, 40 years?

3. When are they going to get their act together and no longer need relief from the US and the rest of the world?

I saw that movie (FTARH) not knowing who this dirtbag was.

It made me chuckle just a bit.

I do not, however, feel the least bit poorer for having missed every one of his cinematic efforts since that time.

I have likewise not missed the opportunity to miss everything with Rosie, Roseanne, the Murderess Whoopi and a host of other CinemaCommies.

The whole output of Hollywood is nothing but a prolonged orgasm in a car chase through explosions, expletives and 40 year old rehashed plots anyway.

(My DirecTV is set on the Smooth Jazz XM channel until Svengoolie comes on with tonight’s old Marx Brothers film.)

Haiti’s misery is unique among the family of nations because it is the site of the only “successful” slave revolt in human history.
