Hilarious! My sides hurt I’ve been laughing so hard over this back and forth.
No matter how many FReepers presented you with facts, you have dug in your heels that FB is nothing other than social — it doesn’t matter you have been proven wrong over and over, that’s your story and you’re sticking to it.
Obviously you are not interested in any form of entertainment, which is your prerogative, however that does not mean something is useless to others, just because it is useless to you.
As has been pointed out to you, it has proved to be very useful to others, and in many cases it has also proved to be financially beneficial to many as well. For example, we promoted our Church’s recent Pancake supper on FB and were pleasantly surprised by the number of folks who attended for the first time because of FB. We are a small congregation and our spring and fall suppers are our 2 big fundraisers each year, and publicity (especially free publicity) is good for us.
The graceful thing to do would just say “Glad you find it to be of use, I don’t, but that’s just me” instead of taking the attitude that because it is useless to you, it is just useless, period.
Any fiancial uses it has are small compared to the key use, which is simply people talking about themselves and hoping they are 'liked'
