A plant part valued for its medicinal, culinary, or aromatic qualities, for centuries herbs have been used to make medicines, add flavor to foods, make teas, mask odors, and attract bees and other pollinators into the garden...

I have an herb section of my garden and it is AWESOME! Fresh rosemary, sage, oregano, basil, parsley, lemon balm, thyme, cilantro, and other things...dried herbs from the store do not even compare to how yummy fresh tastes :)
Herbs are the easiest plants to grow! They’ll grow in the worst soils and give you tons of produce during the summer. Here in the Northeast, unfortunately, with the stark heat, many of my herbs have “bolted.” The fennel had to be cut down - it was growing to two feet!
Garden ping?
Herbs are great and easy to grow. They don’t need much attention at all. Many are perennials, like oregano, thyme, parsley, chives, and cilantro, to name a few. Just cut them down in the fall and cover them with some grass clippings and they’ll winter over.
With the high cost of fresh herbs at the market, it makes much sense to grow your own.
They also repel varmints like rabbits so if you have a plant rabbits like to nibble on, just plant a ring of herbs around it and it will probably stay unmolested.
1) Easy to grow, easier than any other plant--they are weeds that have more flavor grown in poor soil!
2) Fun to put in food and help teach and encourage home cooking
We had a 4x4 raised bed in our yard that we grew tomatoes in last year and this year we made a big veggie garden. We thought we’d put a few herbs in that space. Should just put ONE plant of each in there.....instead we put two of everything and we’ve already had to cut some back. Oh well, live and learn. The basil, chives, dill and parsley are doing great. We had to put the rosemary in a pot by itself. Sure beats paying about 4 bucks in a grocery store for herbs that will go bad in a few days if not used. Love going out there and snipping off only what we need. :)

I trim mine up by cutting the bolts off and they stay looking pretty!
