Woah, three no-nos since June 1! How about the Month of the Pitcher
To: SeaHawkFan
Well, the ‘stros are still technically a Major League team, although next year they move to the AL, so they will no longer play real baseball.

Theoretically it could happen. If both pitchers throw nine perfect innings, and the game is then rained out, it would officially end a 0-0 tie and the stats would count. Two perfect games.

Fifth no-no or perfecto this year. Part of the post-roid era.

Press conference now with catcher Buster Posey, along with right fielder Gregor Blanco who made a great diving catch in the 7th inning.

By the rules, such a game would last forever. What do the rules say about substituting players who die of old age?

See post 23: a double perfecto could happen.
We know it won't end with penalty kicks. :)

I thought we were done hearing about Cain's NEIN-NEIN-NEIN plan? (Ducking)
To: CounterCounterCulture
hehe...
Ah, Herman Cain. Remember when we had actual conservatives running for president?

On radio postgame, they said Gregor Blanco, who made a great catch to keep the pefecto going in the 7th inning, had spoken with Willie Mays before the game.
Willie told him that he wore his glove a little higher on his hand, in case he needed that extra inch or so to make a catch. Blanco made his catch tonight in the wbbing of his glove.
So, some words of wisdom from 'ole Willie might have saved the perfecto.

"
ell, the stros are still technically a Major League team, although next year they move to the AL, so they will no longer play real baseball." Depends on how you define REAL baseball. Is that the same as WINNING baseball? I doubt it.
There have been 107 Series played, with the American League winning 62 and the National League winning 45. The New York Yankees have played in 40 of the 107 Series through 2011 and have won 27 World Series championships, the most of any Major League franchise

LOL
When I read your comment I thought that WOULD be a perfect game. Point taken.
Now every time I hear of a perfect game I will think of the possibility of 27 pitches.

To: Ingtar
81 pitches and 27 strikeouts would be more perfect.
To: raybbr
LOL, well I don’t believe the rule was implemented in order to coddle the pitcher. That said my personal opinion is they should either make the designated hitter rule MLB wide or else do away with it entirely.

Re-run the stats post-’73 and see what they say.
