Rush just played this tape. Rancid Media is backing Carney. Rush wants to know why Obama is invoking executive privilege if (1) Obama was not involved and/or (2) Obama ended an operation he knew nothing about. Rush: "It's all falling apart for them." CBS forced to report on F&F for first time because of Obama's involvement.

I have a theory on why Issa focused on FF and Holder, instead of the larger Gun Runner operation and Napolitano.
Napolitano stated in the press conference that the Gun Runner Operation was under the the Justice Dept. There are possible criminal charges connected to the FF portion of the Gun Runner Operation.
Issa wants Holder to face criminal charges, not just political censure. I think that is also the reason that Holder refused to turn over the documents. Holder isn’t afraid of political censure. He’s afraid of incriminating himself in a criminal investigation. That is also the reason that Holder offered to allow Issa to “see” the documents, only if Issa agreed to drop the investigation.

I’ll buy that. I was thinking that he also had so much on his plate that focusing on one part of it was all he could handle. Remember, Issa is also investigating Solyndra and the other “green” company scams and I don’t know how many other things. F&F is only one of several investigations he’s got going.
I think that Issa is incredibly smart. He knows that political investigations and censure votes can be just as damaging to Republicans as to the Democrats, but an actual criminal investigation changes the dynamics.
It doesn’t quite work the same for the Democrats because of the media complicity.
I agree. I see a lot of carping about Issa but I think he has done a masterful job of keeping this investigation on track and moving forward.
