Only 12% of Indian-American newlyweds between 2008 and 2010 married out of the community

This is because the majority of their marriages are arranged while the children are still young. Sometimes they marry outside of this, but most often it still is arranged. While this seems out of date to us, in a company I worked for I did notice that the majority of Americans were divorced, while the Indians had stong families and seemed perfectly happy.

I wonder if the arranged marriage is simply a symptom if you will of the cause - parents that plan/coach their children into adulthood. There’s a term for this type of parent that escapes me at the moment, but parents who practice this approach with their children get very good results and close families.

The children grow up feeling that their parents are loving counselors. The level of involvement in schooling and life choices is very high. Compare this to single mother households. Many Indian wives are not particularly well educated and not near as much, but they are practitioners of this kind of child rearing.

Perhaps it could be called traditional families?

That is because the concept of “Everything has to be a Romantic Fairy Tale” has infected our culture and when something doesn’t go 100% right all of the time it is time to call in the divorace lawyers and start diving up the kid’s time.

This fairy tale treat the women like a princess and the man has to be a royal attendant ALL the time has screwed up a LOT of marriges and I have seen many of my friends hurt becaue of this.

And this is comming from a woman. I grew up on a farm and my mom and dad BOTH WORKED together to provivde and traise a family. My mom was never a “Suburban Pillow Princess” sitting on her arse eating bon-bons and expecting to be treated like a G-D D-mmned Princess all the time and that is why I love my mom so much!

Even after my Dad passed away she still goes out every day and feeds the calves and makes sure the bulls have enough hay and does some chores and she is in her 70’s she is tough ol’ bird and when I am her age I can only hope to be as fulfilled as she is.

Our culture’s affluence is it’s own worst enemy and not for the class warfare reasons the libs love to cite.
