PHOENIX (AP) A 14-year-old boy shot and nearly killed an intruder who broke into his Phoenix home and pulled a gun on him while he was watching his three younger siblings, police said Saturday.
The teen and his siblings, ages 8, 10 and 12, were at home alone when a woman rang the doorbell Friday afternoon, Phoenix police Officer James Holmes said.
The teen didnt open the door because he didnt recognize the woman.
Soon after, the teen heard a loud bang on the door, rushed his siblings upstairs and got a handgun from his parents bedroom.

Awesome! Takes guts...kudos to him.
Too bad so many kids have to be at home alone during the day.
True that.
Unfortunately the perp lived and the woman got away. Remember kids, anything worth shooting once, is worth shooting twice.
How many states allow a double-tap on perps? Not many I’d wager.
The photo at the story is priceless—the caption: “File photo of a handgun.” Duh . . .
That is one awesome kid. Gods blessings upon him.
Well duh! You think he could shoot from the top of the stairs and hit the bad guy with dumb luck? Nah, betting odds are Dad has been spending quality time at the range with his son.
No one in Phoenix answers the door to strangers because the system with the traffic cameras is that they have to serve you with the ticket in person. They notify that you got the ticket, but they can’t make you pay it without serving you.
They have all kinds of schemes that they use to serve people, free offers, just sign here . So, everyone looks before they open the door.
I LIKE this kid!
Of course the parents are probably going to get arrested for keeping a loaded firearm where kid can get to it...
More range time might have changed his luck on that one.
Seriously, Way to Go son, way to go.
I've got 2 great nieces and a niece, just a little younger, sounds like he's be a great match for one of them. Of course the niece can shoot pretty well herself, and her 10 y/o sister can shoot better than she can. :)
I think a lot of Freepers with daughters are going to be lining up to arrange the match. ;-)
