Good afternoon/evening FReepers. Yep, it is Beer Thirty Time Once Again!

Happiness is a bubbling airlock And a Cold Homebrew!

Airlock

I trust y’all had a great 4th of July. This morning I bottled the Copper Ale that I brewed on June 7th. It was bottled after two weeks in the primary and two weeks plus a few days in the secondary. I am still enjoying the Honey Ale I bottled on June 20th. This ale has matured nicely over time and has a wonderful aroma and taste. The carbonation has come along nicely and develops a beautiful white long lasting head in my Mason jar mug. I need to brew up another batch of beer soon to keep my homebrews flowing because they are just so tasty and I created and enjoy them right at home!

I hope all of you and your Brews and Wines are doing well. Stop by and share what you are brewing or let us know what your favorite brew, wine or spirit is.

Just getting into the brewing hobby. My last was a Czech Grand Pilsner. Very happy with the result!

Wish I had a fridge I could dedicate to fermenting and aging. I will have to check out the local paper for a used working one and then buy a temp control unit.

I have been enjoying my brewing hobby. It just takes time letting the brews age properly and sometimes that is hard to do especially when I crack open the very last bottle and find it is so good and no more are left! Just Drats!

Just ordered all the extra stuff I need to make watermelon wine: extra fermenter, Yeast, Yeast supplement etc. Got at least 5 big melons ripening in the garden at the same time....

Going to Brew up another Belgian Ale this weekend.

Been homebrewing since 1990. Living on a farm has cut down on my free time and it’s too damn hot here in Texas during the summer. Come fall, it’s my orange, ginger, cinnamon and honey brown ale. It’s great! I like the big 22 oz bottles. They cost more than the little ones I got dumpster diving, but they are worth it. For the folks worried about cost, the equipment lasts forever. I’m using the same fermenters and brew pot I bought back then.

Mmmmmm watermelon wine. My garden is only growing tomatoes this year. I do have a few fig trees back in Mississippi that I would like to try to make a wine or mead with the fruit.

I love brewing but really hate cleaning and filling bottles so I recently invested in a couple of recycled soda fountain kegs. They’re just right for a 5 gallon batch and you can clean and sanitize a keg just about as fast as 6 12-ounce bottles. You do need some sort of pressurization system (I use a CO2 tank) and it’s a bit harder to stick it in the fridge, but it’s great to have. As long as you keep pressure on the tank the beer will last a loooong time so you don’t have to drink the entire batch in one weekend.

So far kegging is just a dream for me. The funds for my hobby are scarce and I need what funds I have for ingredients. Good luck!

Good luck on the watermelon wine, I admire and envy anyone who can do it. I’ve tried 3 times and failed each time. My wine making friends all told me the problem was that I couldn’t get the fermentation kicked off fast enough and the very delicate juice spoiled before there was enough alcohol to protect it. I do love it, tho, when I can find someone who can make it(hint). That about the only one I have trouble with so I’ll just stick to what I know from now on.

Given the hot weather I’m doing partial mashes indoors. Right now it’s ales, but with a cheap second-hand refrigerator you can manage lagers as well.

So, here I sit, avoiding the 100+ temps outside, drinking my 29 cent Sam Adams beers while I contemplate more important issues like the origins of bellybutton lint.

I'm a big fan of the Grolsch-style bottles because they're so easy to work with. A 12-pack of the bottles alone, bought through Midwest, costs just about the same as three four-packs with actual beer in them. So needless to say, I'm doing the same thing as you're doing, and drinking a lot of Grolsch! That is, at least until I've collected about 120 or so bottles. Right now I'm at 80!

I’ve made beer but am now doing wines. Specialties are Jalapeno and Almond-Raisin. The Almond-Raisin has some real kick. Don’t dare to drink to much of the Jalapeno. The next day consequences could be deadly.

Ha! I know exactly what you`re saying.. the last beer is gone and time to brew more!

I`ve been buying ales from Trader Joes in the decorative bottles with the swing-top caps.. they`ll make for some good fill bottles.

I have skipped a few weeks in starting a new brew and it is frustrating when I run out of a fresh brewed beer that is ready to enjoy!

Same here. 10 PM and 1.5 gin and tonics. I’m done!

Too darn hot on the deck to enjoy, even with the sun down it’s 88 and humid.

Cooler weather coming on Monday. Time to get a homebrew recipe together. Probably a cream ale or a kolsch.

Had the day off from work today so I decided to rewire a guitar that has been sitting in disrepair for nearly a year.
Of course I left my volt meter at work so when I encountered a problem it was trial and error. Finally figured out it was a bad switch and 10 hours later it sounded so sweet I had to play it for the last 2 hours.

Long day and an even longer one tomorrow, so no time for beer for me tonight.

UFC tomorrow night tho so I will make up for lost thirst!

Airlock is bubbling away in the closet =)
