I worked on a friends laptop that was infected with a version of that virus. It is impossible to get rid of. You cannot run any .exe, you cannot access it in dos because you can't run as an administrator.

The only way out is a low level format from a self booting program.

I did manage to access and save his document file though.

Malware bytes seems to have taken care of it, it was just an endless stream of popups warning me that life as I knew it was over.

Not with this version I ran across, it would not allow any .exe to be launched.

If I was able to run as an administrator I could have done it through dos from an external drive...but the virus blocked that too.

Nasty, nasty virus.

Of course the solution was to give up your credit card info for "their solution"
