The Blob is a fitting metaphor for todays Federal Government. Eats up everything in it’s path.

Beware of The Blob, it creeps
And leaps and glides and slides
Across the floor
Right through the door
And all around the wall
A splotch, a blotch
Be careful of The Blob

If they remake “The Blob,” Michael Moore can play the lead.

Two years ago I helped move the National Motorcycle Museum. I got to move several of Steve’s bikes including his Indian chopper that he named “The Blob”

The development of The Blob as a monster, in science fiction, continued, with some interesting developments.

One of these was that The Blob, while itself simple, could to some extent change based on the complexity of the lifeforms it absorbed. Several authors pursued variations of this.

One took place on an alien planet. In this case, The Blob was a black liquid substance. It absorbed a scientist, then some of it reformed into a 10 foot high image of the scientist, with her knowledge and memories. No longer aggressive, this led to some interesting conversations with her former colleagues, including her ex boyfriend.

In a different story on a populated alien planet, The Blob took on Buddhist overtones. Older people would put a piece of this pinkish Blob on their skin, and it would slowly grow on them. During this process they would begin to psychically commune with all the other lifeforms, including people, The Blob had absorbed. Eventually, with a large part of their body covered with Blob, they would go into underground caves where most of The Blob lived, and their body would be totally consumed, yet their mind would remain in communion with all its other food.

The climax of "BlobFest" at the Colonial Theatre was a re-enactment of that scene, in which the audience runs out screaming and trying to escape The Blob

I hope they left in a more orderly fashion this time.

David Yeayworth who was the son of the filmmaker was a classmate of mine. I remember one day he brought some pieces of the blob to school. It bounced around like crazy when dropped on the floor. He gave me some, dont know what i did with it. I could kick myself now for not keeping it!

We took our family to the Downingtown Diner a dozen years ago after the kids first watched The Blob.

Friggin Dishnetwork is having a spat with AMC, something about them not paying their dues, so AMC has been dropped.

My favorite channel for the series they have of classic aliens or monster movies.
