As others have mentioned, the songwriter was Irving Berlin. What they did not tell you is that the song was written in 1929 and introduced in the film by the same name in 1930. It has been featured in other films as well. Many, many artists have recorded covers of it during the course of its 80+ years of existence. From the comment section.
