Has anyone else gotten this annoying Adobe Flash Player message?

Lately I keep getting this annoying message popping up at random times:

Adobe® Flash® Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

You then have a choice to click on "Debug", which makes the message box disappear but apparently does nothing else, "Report to Microsoft" or "Cancel". None of these 3 choices has resulted in making the error box go away forever. Neither has uninstalling Adobe Flash and then reinstalling it.

Anyone know what to do with this annoying little thang? Thanks in advance.

I get that a lot on Firefox..I have no idea why but yes its very annoying and I will have to reboot firefox in order for any kind of flash site to work again

It seems many people using XP3 are having this problem. The solution, for right now, is to TURN OFF AUTOMATIC UPDATES. Here is how:

“If anyone missed Chris’s work-around solution, he said to right click on Flash Player in the Control Room. Open the program up and click on Advanced. Once in Advanced, to “uncheck” automatic updates and click on the “Notify me of updates” instead. “

BTW, ‘Chris’ meant CONTROL PANEL where he says ‘Control Room’.

To make be exact, Click on START, CONTROL PANEL, FLASH PLAYER... then do as he said.

I found it easier to go to the Adobe site, download the latest update and install it locally rather than from the Adobe automatic update.

Thanks for bringing this up. I thought I would probably have to ask my computer geek son who keeps all the systems in our office running. Whenever I ask him about something like that, his first question always is “Well mother, what were you doing on your computer when ... first appeared?”.

So much easier to have the answers come from FR!

Adobe just sucks. They couldn’t program “Hello World”. Mac, Linux, Windows, it doesn’t matter. Flash pukes and blows chunks all over.

I know this doesn’t help with your issue but, gosh, I sure feel better :)

Post 8 sounds like a viable solution.

However, since the problem is with their updater program, maybe the best solution is to do both post 4 and post 8.

That way the next time it wants to update, you have manual control no matter what.

Thank you. I have Windows XP Home Edition. I went into my Control Panel, right-clicked on Flash Player, and checked the box “Notify me of updates” box. Hopefully in the morning when I reboot, I won’t see that horrible little annoying message any more. Phooey!

Sometimes happens when have multiple tabs running in addition to the one running HULU. Particularly problematical when one of the other tabs is NASCAR page or the Redskins...

I use Chrome for a browser and flash stuff crashes all the heck over the place, all the time. I don’t have any technical explanation for you, but flash stuff crashes constantly, for me.

Description
Problem Description: Multiple times per day I receive the error window with message that “Adobe Flash Update
Service 11.3 r300 has encountered a problem and needs to close.” I have gone to Adobe website, downloaded and
successfully installed latest Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262, yet continue to get these the above error
message. I use Mozilla Firefox ver 13.0.1 and the Windows XP operating system. Cause of Firefox crashes is as yet
undetermined, but Flash Player is only problem that I am aware of on my computer and prime suspect as cause of
Firefox crashing.

Steps to Reproduce: Don't know how to reproduce; trying to get rid of repeat of same error message that appears without warning from time to time. Updated via download to Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262, but still get error message.

Actual Result: Manually updating to Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.262 did not solve the problem.

Expected Result: Get rid of error message & have Flash Player work correctly.

Any Workarounds: Don't know of any.

Download the current 32 or 64 bit uninstaller
Uninstaller for 64 bit Operating Systems, http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_64bit.exe
Uninstaller for 32 bit Operating Systems, http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_32bit.exe

Close all browser windows and run the uninstaller

Restart Windows

Delete all remaining files and folders located in the following directories. (tip: copy and paste these paths into the path bar in an Explorer window)
C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
%appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player

Verify that the file “FlashPlayerCPLApp.cpl” in C:\Window\system32\ for 32 bit systems or C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ if you are using a 64 bit system, has been deleted.

At this point, Flash Player should be fully removed from your system. To download the most recent version of the Player for installation, please see these pages:

I just go to task manager when I first fire up my machine and shut all that stuff down. The Adobe flash player update is the first one I close.

I finally went back and restored from 7/11/12 and restored. That seemed to help, but I still can’t open hotlinks from pages like twitter. Something (recent) is forcing me to right-click on these links and open them from the menu.
