Good luck on the camera shopping - the usual suspects (Nikon, Canon, Panasonic, Sony) are in the recommended area.
Customer Reports is in public libraries, and on supermarket checkout stands. I think the current issue has a comprehensive report on everything, cameras among them.
The problem with CR is not that they are “Communists” as many on this forum assure us, but that they are behind the market in the area of electronics, and often enough the products they review in the latest issue are no longer manufactured.
CNET on the other hand tends to be (just like CR, too) incomplete. But there are plenty of good review sites on the Net, and the Amazon reviews as well. (Always look first at the one star Amazon reviews, is my rule.)
