Local 6 Exclusive: George Zimmerman Criticizes Own Defense Team

Man charged in death of Trayvon Martin later removes complaints on website

George Zimmerman’s newly relaunched website – one he is producing outside of the defense team’s control – included criticism of his own legal defense team’s site, although the comments were later removed, Local 6 has learned.

Wednesday night, statements on TheRealGeorgeZimmerman.com complained that the official GZlegalcase.com site “has fallen short” in three areas: “Disputing misinformation;" “Providing a voice for George;" and “Raising funds.”

The independent site was reestablished, in part, to “pick up the slack,” the website page stated Wednesday.

But by Thursday the entire “About” page containing those comments was no longer on TheRealGeorgeZimmerman.com site.

Asked by Local 6 about the criticisms, Zimmerman’s attorney, former Local 6 legal analyst Mark O’Mara, said he could not comment because he had not seen them.

But, he added, they would not signal a deterioration in the attorney-client relationship. There is “no schism whatsoever,” he said. “George and I are doing well. The whole defense team is doing very well … We are one absolutely cohesive team.”

Asked why Zimmerman would risk doing a national television interview while facing criminal charges that carry a maximum life sentence, O’Mara said, “This is a decision made by George to get his story out” and, he hoped, would raise money for his defense fund.

But Fox News never mentioned the websites that link to the defense fund donation page, and only about $1,500 trickled into the fund overnight. That compares to about $60,000 raised on the day the defense fund got its first mentions on Fox News in April.

“My understanding is it was going to be spoken about” during the hour-long Sean Hannity show, O’Mara said, adding there was “disappointment” the site was not referenced.

On Thursday, Zimmerman also posted a video on his website, thanking his supporters. You can watch the video by clicking here.

"This is our website, it’s not my website, it is our website where you can personally communicate with me and I hope to be your website to provide facts," Zimmerman says. "I will be frequently updating this website so check back often and spread the word to your family and friends. Once again, I humbly thank you."

The video is about two minutes long and is in both English and Spanish.

...but nevertheless he seems a bit paranoid...

With a scatpile of people out to get him, is it paranoia?

The New Black Panthers,

The State and County (for political reasons)

Holder's DOJ (because they're racist)

The media ('cause it's dramma, and it sells soap!)

Sheesh! That isn't paranoia, it's situational awareness!

This guy wants to be convicted. He's done more to get him convicted than the prosecution has.

Yeah. The French have a pithy truism about this, which most people are aware of:

"Qui s'excuse, s'accuse." (Whoever excuses himself, accuses himself.)

It's OK to open your mouth, but only to say,"I was just defending myself against a maniac who was determined to kill me by breaking my skull."

And then, either shut up, or say it louder. Nothing else to the public. Fix that idea in the public's mind. That's all. (IMHO)

Thank goodness Zimmerman is finally waking up.

I think almost every Conservative who has followed this case closely has doubts about the ability of Zimmerman's lawyer, Mark O’Mara.

My personal opinion - O’Mara is dangerously incompetent.

Item...O’Mara did not publicly express his belief in Zimmerman's innocence until THREE WEEKS after taking the case.

Zimmerman's first two lawyers were passionate advocates, and they were pivotal in swinging Conservative public opinion to Zimmerman's side.

No one has a clear explanation as to why Zimmerman fired his original lawyers.

O’Mara did an enormous amount of TV reporting on the Casey Anthony trial, so some people speculate that Zimmerman became infatuated with O’Mara’s TV image.

As to Zimmerman's many “blunders,” all of them appear to have been encouraged or abetted by O’Mara.

Recorded conversations from Zimmerman to various friends and family clearly indicate that O’Mara knew something about the Legal Defense Fund BEFORE Zimmerman and his wife testified at the bail hearing.

O’Mara publicly stated that Zimmerman “wanted to apologize” to Trayvon’s family days before Zimmerman first did that.

Zimmerman gave his second passport to O’Mara BEFORE the bail hearing, but O’Mara never mentioned this in court.

I haven't followed all O’Mara’s TV appearances, but I believe he appeared at least twice on CNN’s Piers Morgan show (Morgan is a Hard Left gun control fanatic) before he booked himself onto Sean Hannity’s show.

Finally, I think the fact that ALL criticism of O’Mara is coming from Conservatives, and absolutely NO criticism of O’Mara is coming from the Left, tells us everything we need to know about this lawyer.

Zimmerman has made the exact error that Tom DeLay and Scooter Libby made.

Like DeLay and Libby, Zimmerman has been charged with a POLITICAL crime.

Like DeLay and Libby, Zimmerman has chosen a lawyer who knows absolutely nothing about Conservative principles and Conservative arguments.

I know Zimmerman is scared to death and probably thinks that, if he can only explain himself well enough, people will understand and will a not guilty verdict when it comes time for will the jury to deliberate. The problem is that the more he talks, the more notes the prosecution will take, and the greater the chance he will say the wrong thing that becomes problematic for the defense.
