No... SMU got the death penalty for cheating WHILE THEY WERE ON PROBATION...for previous cheating. They were, multiple, repeat offenders.

PSU's crime is more serious... but, they've never had any previous incidents. I think, this is what saved them from suspension of all football.

Agree. Lenient.

But Penn State toon steps after the facts came out. SMU never did any corrective action.

Plus, SMU wasn’t a traditional north eastern school. They always get the breaks. SMU was an upstart and the traditional power schools wanted them out. Of course, they were also paying briefcases of cash to players.
