In New Orleans most of the cops deserted and the exalted mayor, Ray Nagin, watched all his school buses fill up with water rather than use them to evacuate citizens. I won't even start on what went on in the Super Dome. And how come nobody bothered to pull the city's disaster plan out of the file cabinet? Oh yeah, now I remember, they were already blaming it on George Bush after they had rebuffed his timely offer of assistance the day prior to Katrina making landfall.
