In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
sumpsimus [suhmp-suh-muhs]

1. adherence to or persistence in using a strictly correct term, holding to a precise practice, etc., as a rejection of an erroneous but more common form ( opposed to mumpsimus).
2. a person who is obstinate or zealous about such strict correctness ( opposed to mumpsimus).
[1520–30; from a story, which perhaps originated with Erasmus, of an illiterate priest who said mumpsimus rather than sūmpsimus (1st plural perfect indicative of Latin sūmere to pick up; see consume) while reciting the liturgy, and refused to change the word when corrected]
Not that we know anyone like this.
There was a great deal of sumpsimus over Herman Cain’s use of the word “Jealous” when describing the OWS crowd. Perhaps a more appropriate term would have been “Envious”, but I had no trouble appreciating the point he was making.

As a sumpsimus, I couldn’t care less about what Obama says. As a mumpsimus, he could care less about what I say.
We need to sweep this crowd into the sumpsimus pumpsimus this November and “drain the swamp”…

At Reagan, where I was rather thoroughly groped by a manly woman TSA agent after being made to wait about 7 minutes for a female attendant. It took quite a bit of self control not to deck her when she told me to @calm down.”. But I realize they have miserable little lives and the only power they have is to annoy and detain travelers, so they do it with gusto.
How sumpsimus of her. The ti/daughter was in O’ahu, btw. She had a wonderful time and in little over 2 weeks she will be here in my nest.
Day would be perfect if it were not for all the little notes DH left for me to run my day. I have so far refused to check my cell for messages. He is beginning to piss me off with micromanaging my days. God love him.

OH, wait. Flowers for a funeral in MI. Dang, better get that done first.....laundry? yep, gotta work that in....pool backflushed. Mmm. Man thing, why is it on my list? Can’t even remember how to do it. Need retraining. Next.
