Dear Matt,

You don’t need to take a boat you don’t need in exchange for your motorcycle. We have this invention called “money.” The boat owner sells his boat, and gets money from someone who really wanted the boat (and who particularly values that model, and has done his research about value and common defects to watch for, unlike you).

Then, the former boat owner can afford to pay you for the motorcycle, and you get the money you need.
