Sherman Hensley best known for his character George Jeffereson on the Jefferson's has passed away at 74 at his home in El Paso, TX.
I’m comin’ ta join ‘ya Wheezy!
Movin on up...
Wheezy! I loved that name!
Well, we’re movin’ on up
To the East side
To a de-luxe apartment
In the sky....
RIP Mr. Hensley
We don’t really know for sure if he moved on up or not.
Lol, true but I’d give him benefit of doubt. Funny guy, and smart enough to shut up and act, rather than turning into a political expert. RIP.
Oh, the MUGS that man could put on his face. Very, very funny guy. I don’t know if he was a conservative, I kind of think he was, but he’ll be missed.
RIP Mr. Hensley.
The Small Businessman’s Association will certainly miss his comedic input...
Loved The Jeffersons. And, when you really think about it....Hemsley’s George Jefferson was more accurate of the way black males are really like, unlike the saccharine characters you see on other TV programs and film
“Honky”....what he would always call Tom Willis. Mr Jefferson never treated Bentley that way....he knew Willis was a White Guilt Liberal. Saw thru that
Oh, and did you know....Sherman was like 15 yrs younger than Weezy (Isabel Sanford). Did not know that until Isabel passed away a few years ago
Did not realize he was living in El Paso...I spent most of my childhood there.
RIP Sherman Hemsley. You made a lot of people laugh...and even think
It was a crappy show, although I know nothing about what kind of person the man was. If he was a good man, it’s always sad to see a good person leave this mortal coil.
I was very sorry to hear this news. RIP Mr. Jefferson, your show really holds up, even after all this time.
‘Sherman was like 15 yrs younger than...Isabel Sanford.”
I was very surprised at how young he was. Unusually for an actor he must have been playing older than his actual age.
I see from a later thread here that Chad Everett has also passed away, he was the same age as Hemsley. Their shows were on about the same time, yet Everett was playing a young man, Hemsley a middle-aged one.
RIP to them both.
