When I got back into the car, the guy came right up to my window and lifted his hand to hit me. Luckily, I was already on the cell with the police. When they lectured me later, I explained that, by getting out, I was trying to keep him away from the car and attract attention from other people. They said I should’ve locked the doors, closed the windows, and sat tight. (I was blocked by two cars, but in hindsight, I guess I could’ve backed up to get away.)
BTW, it all started because another woman driver yelled an obscenity at me while driving by (small street, and I guess I didn’t move over fast enough for her royal highness). So it began as an argument between two women, and she must’ve called this guy to back her up. LOL... funny, considering this study.
Yeah, avoiding such people and situations starts with understanding that there is absolutely no way to win.
Getting out of the car is an aggressive act and there isn’t a male out there when another driver gets out of their car who won’t respond in kind.....
Any driver who gets out of their vehicle (during a road rage incident) and approaches the other vehicle better expect to get into a fight.....
Unfortunately ladies, there are guys that don’t mind hitting a gal....those numbers increase in a road rage confrontation.....
And don’t think bringing a gun will help, you’ll go to prison if you get out first and approach the other vehicle armed....
