"The administration is probably behind it. Looking for a little extra campaign cash.

Generating that civil unrest they plan to use those drones on.

Sounds to me like Obama found a new source of campaign funds.

It wasn’t an announcement. After reading your post, I telephoned the SSA to check on an SSA account, confirm the problem with SSA, and see if SSA had any additional steps which could be taken to deny any attempt to alter the direct deposit account to Columbia Bank. Their answer was no on confirmation and no additional steps to secure the account. So far, the SSA representatives report they don’t have access to any alerts or other information about the problem you commented upon. The SSA account was unchanged.

Well, I hope your account doesn't get nailed in the next batch to get hit. In the meantime, believe what you wish... I was just letting people know so if they do get nailed they will act quickly to minimize the damage.

Yet, somehow, nary a word of this is breathed by the press.

Why, it's almost like some sort of Continuing Criminal Enterprise.

When we spoke to them earlier today, the SSA representative asked for:

Social Security Number
Name
Date of Birth
Address
Father’s Full name
Mother’s Full Maiden Name
Bank
Direct Deposit Account Number

Pretty shocking, I know.. since the press can't wait to find things wrong with the way Obama's running things around here.

I don’t know why you said all of that. I only reported what happened when I contacted the SSA about the problem you reported, without implying anything whatsoever one way or another..It is what it is. The SSA representatives were unable to confirm theinformation for whatever reason. Why is an unanwered question at this point in time.

Yeah, I know. Well maybe once a Republican gets in office, they will lay off on all the investigative reporting and thinly-veiled editorials disguised as news.

They tend to leave Republicans alone, y'see.

When you have up to 30 or more SSN accounts like Obama’s, you need to siphon off the money from some place to cover the expenditures.

I'm assuming that the info you had to provide via phone is stored in our accounts, which means the hackers got access to it as well, which is how the direct deposits were changed without the knowledge of the recipients.

If the government knew about the fraud in November of last year, what did they do to prevent it from happening again? Obviously nothing, which is gross negligence on their part. But of course the Federal government is nothing but one big pile of gross negligence. I can't believe that one million accounts were breached in January, and nobody noticed it? Or contacted the recipients whose accounts were effected. We're talking 6 months here.

Which is why we contacted the SSA to confirm your report about a breach in security affecting 1 million accounts. The national office and the local office said they could find no alerts, warnings, or other information about such a breach in security. I read to them the exact words of your posting.

If you were able to provide the name and contact information at the SSA office who provided you with this information, then it would be possible to refer these other SSA representitives to the source and thereby confirm and perhaps elaborate further on the problem and events.

Sadly, everyone needs to take note how easy it is to obtain the information requested by the SSA to confirm a person’s identity. All of the information is available in public records, but typically has to be collated together. The SSA methods are inherently weak and prone to being compromised without resorting to computer hacking. Diligence and access to credit reports is usually perfectly adequate in this scenario.

I think you meant this post for Cementjungle. The SS thread was his.

Actually it was some of both. I started out by starting to reply to your post:

“I’m assuming that the info you had to provide via phone is stored in our accounts, which means the hackers got access to it as well, which is how the direct deposits were changed without the knowledge of the recipients.”

I was interrupted for awhile, and when I returned to continue posting, I got off track on his earlier comments. Sorry about that. The part of my post mentioning how easy it is to obtain the SSA requested personal identification information was in response to your above comment. The biographical information is available in a variety of one or more sources ranging fromgenealogical research to credit reports. The bank account numbers are available in credit reports.

“Sounds like Sgt Shultz is on the job.”

Where did you get the idea that anyone that works for government is as smart as Sgt Shultz.

All banks and credit unions in the country are “federally insured”.

I don’t think it’s even legal anymore to open a bank that isn’t part of the FDIC system.

And it stands to reason, since “Federal Reserve Notes” are really private scrip which Congress has mandated is “legal tender”.

That gives the Federal Reserve the right to charge interest on the debt, and Congress gets an unlimited credit line so it can borrow as much as it wants.

A friend’s ss disabled widow’s benefit gets deposited the 27th but she still doesn’t have it today on the 31st. Her bank told her they checked and it went from ss to the US Treasury bank on the 27th (her pay date), but that the US Treasury bank hasn’t BATCH deposited it with them yet. Does this sound right?
