Logarithmics of the Macabre. This killing only has half the victims, thus 1/5th the publicity. Surprising given the media dream-perp.

Maybe it has to do with the timing of the incident and news cycles, weekend, etc. Also, the skin color of the victims probably matters to the MSM.
Simply change it from the "Colorado one" to the "Batman Joker one" and that alone will explain much of the difference in public and media reaction. You had the tie-in to a hit movie and it was carried out in a unique fashion. Plus, people wondered why an intelligent young man would do such a thing. So all this made for both a tragic yet compelling news story. What happened yesterday was horrible but not all that compelling in regards to the murderer.
