You DON’T think that Penn State cover-up illustrates how sports can become a god? Do you really think that sports are the panacea for young women?
I didn’t write the article, rather just used it as a jumping off place for discussion about feminism-related-to-sports (and the rest of our culture).
But hey, if you want to say any man who disagrees with you must be a misogynist wife-beater...that says more about you, than me.
You started the thread with agreeing with the article. You’ve changed your opinion throughout the thread to pump up your view. I never said that a man who disagrees with me is a wife beater. I said that sports, specifically women in sports, has nothing to do with societal ills. I said that girls who participate in a type of sport gain valuable life skills, confidence and health as a result. Perhaps you should have started the vanity thread with something like, “Do females today act more masculine than in decades past?” That would have centered more on your thought.
My thoughts on Penn State. Sure, sports can become a “god”. Just like greed. Just like acquiring wealth. Just like trying to win a Miss America title. Just like most of the activities we do. Sports (like the other examples I mentioned) have changed due to society changing. Sports didn’t change society. IMHO.
