Does Fuel Get Left in the Gas Pump Hose?According to the American Petroleum Institute the gas-pump hose typically retains about one third of a gallon of fuel.
They answered the question they were asked.
Notice that they don't mention how much fuel is still in the connecting piping. Most people don't even think about that.
That's what the four gallons is all about. You clear the hose and the piping.
