Michelin PS2 Run-Flats vs. Goodyear F1's
August 14, 2012 | Doc Savage

In 2010 I purchased a 2008 Crystal Red Metallic Corvette Convertible. (Yes, I know, it's Government Motors, but it was used and I had always wanted a Corvette since the 'Stingrays') It had 3,500 miles and came with the original Goodyear F1 run-flats.

I figured I would run them until the tread wear dictated changing. Well, the Goodyears don't last long even in normal driving conditions so I decided to switch to Michelin PS2 run-flats and get a front-end alignment.

It was like owning a new car. If any of you have sports cars and are currently running Goodyears,...switch. You'll never regret it. They are as quiet as a mouse and hug the road like glue which is saying something for run-flats.

I never realized how my Corvette would perform until I switched to Michelins. Obviously Chevrolet agrees with me since they now put Michelin PS2 'Cups' on the ZO6's and ZR1's. Just thought I'd post a compliment in case anyone else was in need of new tires.

If you want an even better grip go with pirelli.

I run michelins on my wife’s truck, and they are better than Goodyear.

Of course, Goodyear is better then Firestone. (bottom of the barrel).

My dad used to own a Western Auto. I have put thousands of tires on when I was in high school

I recently acquired an ‘02 Porsche Carerra coupe with 16,700 miles. The original owner ran into a financial bind and put his dream car up for sale.

The tires are Continentals. In about a year, I'll put on four Michelin Pilot “Z” rated tires as replacements. The Contis seem OK but, from experience, I know how Michelin tires perform.

I wish Good Year made tires this good.

My Evo came with Yokohama summer performance tires. They lasted about 12K miles. When the car was new I could out perform darn near any car on a curve. When I needed new tires, I decided to go all season so I was able to drive the car in the winter. Summer performance tires are useless even with AWD in snowy/icy conditions. However, going all season drops handling if you get into that sort of thing..

My 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra came with Goodyear F1s, and I had to put BF Goodrich TA/KDWs on the back to get rid of the wheel hop.

Ford got smart and ditched the IRS on the new Mustangs.

I have a 2005 Mustang GT that came with Pirelli P zero Nero’s...I got 55,000 with the First set.65,000 with the second set, and 60,000 on my third set. I now have 182,000
miles on my car....Pirelli tires are the Best.
I also Have 4 wheel disc Brakes and Just now got the fronts redone...180,000 on the first set of Brakes!

That Is Quality that A Govt Run Car Company will NEVER achieve.

Chevy is now “Welfare Motors”

I traded my ‘03 Cobra for an ‘05 GT. I was tired of listening to the POS IRS clunk.

I almost lost it in ‘05 GT because I had to accelerate after making a right hand turn to avoid some idiot rushing thru the light.

It made a large sweep to the right and left, but the Stang righted itself. I lost a lot of faith in the P Zeros after that.

I put the TA/KDWs on the back of my ‘05 GT, and went to a larger size. I was still doing a little bracket racing in those days. I ran Nitto drag radials on my other bracket cars. They are a 5,000 mile tire, but they sure do hook up at the dragstrip on slightly modded cars.
