That's funny! The facts aren't completely right, since it was the German StuG44/MP43 that introduced the intermediate length cartridge in a combat weapon. It also glosses over the enormous fun we had with the M-16 over its first couple of decades of use.

The Brits aren't the only stubborn ones when it comes to introducing a defective design and then going through a long, painful path to make the thing work right.
