Rotts a close second but some of the other newer en vogue fighting dogs are gaining...Cane Corsos, American Bulldogs, Presas, Dogos....etc
and besides any Pit looking terrier is likely to be called a Pitbull...it is a wide range of sorta mongrelish terrier/bully breed...except the purebred which have distinctions noted by the ADBA or UKC or the American Staffordshire which is extremely close in breed...some say the same actually
now various ethnics and hillbillies have bred up shorties and big chested and over sized heads etc expanding traits out the wazoo
Pits are simply not as narrowly defined as your Dobie...fawn, red, tan, blue or black and medium to the hyped warlock size...Dobies are well defined...not so Pits
a much larger blame pool and often 50 dollar dogs bought by the wrong folks...hood and holler dog
when i grew up in the middle of the last century the biggest culprits were German Shepherds and Mastiff types
later Dobies after they exploded with all those movies
then Rottweilers after the Omen movie and folks went wow...Devil Dogs...I want one
the it shifted to Pitbulls as ghetto and hip hop gained traction and it's been there mostly since...Pits are the choice of the Hood same as a Glock...and rednecks like them too...
Pits are dog aggressive often...that is a fact...I will give you that.
but they are a problem because of who owns them more than anything
I have owned a white male uncut Pit...never an issue though he could latch...not question that
a big package intact red Hoytt Dobie....incredible dog
a Noblehaus black face male uncut Rott...saved my then girlfriend's life from a rapist home invader...and almost killed him...Rotts are to me a lot more severe to endure an attack from than your average 50-70 pound Pit
two American Bulldogs...huge...a black uncut male standard Scott type dog and a Johnson female on my homepage...he was pretty tough...bit my kids and i retired him to a buddy for hunting and breeding...the big female...dog aggressive but a wuss otherwise
raised with Shepherds and Giant Schnauzer
I am acquainted with so called tough breeds
bites...lethal attacks...simple attacks...the stats tell a lot more than just about Pitbulls
if you really want a dog to fear look up the Caucasian Mountain dog or certain sub breeds of the Anatolian
now those are some dogs
btw..you need to check your scales or cut back on the Alpo...a 130 pound Doberman is 50% over the maximum breed size considered standard...my Red was nearly 100 and that was incredible...most are in he 70s and 80s max
on Pits...yes dangerous...maybe the most dangerous given their numbers..5-10% of all dogs as of 1998...a lot higher now I bet..them and Rotts are likely in 60% of dog related fatalities...but they are also top two in ownership of the tough breeds
believe it or not Malamutes and St Bernards are number 5 and 9 respectively
say yer prayers Chihuahuas don't weight 120 pounds...now that would a slaughter of Biblical proportion of owners...nervous bug eyed vicious little critters
PS...I never cut my boys...if you want to do that...buy a girl instead...
