To: Wicket

You’re 11 years older than me, but that shouldn’t make that much of a difference. I saw a kid stand up to a bully and leave in an ambulance with most of his bottom lip hanging off. He never came back to school.

I’m just not getting it. A high school aged boy can hit hard enough to break noses, ribs, cheekbones, or bruise/rupture kidneys, livers, spleens etc. Let’s not even talk about the damage that a HS linebacker could do to another human body.

Wow that must have been hard to see.

There were kids in my school that were a little off kilter, and left to their own devices might have have thought about being more violent. I remember one guy in particular who talked about a raccoon he shot out of a tree and how much he liked the sound of the bones crunching.

But, I think that peer/community standards and pressure and an understanding of what they would face from school or their parents if they went too far kept them in line.
