As Obamas campaign seizes on Rep. Todd Akins clumsy comments to paint the Republicans as extremists, pro-lifers are rightfully pointing out that Obama doesnt have a leg stand on when it comes to abortion extremism.
Despite Akins misuse of words, millions of Americans agree with him in opposing abortion in cases of rape. But how many would agree with Obamas votes for the right to kill a child whos been born alive during abortion?
While Obama has contested the charge by pro-lifers that these votes were pro-infanticide, he is on the record supporting something the vast majority of Americans also oppose: late-term abortion.
Even arch-abortionist Henry Morgentaler, the pioneer of abortion in Canada, said late-term abortions are murder.
A video surfaced this week from Obamas U.S. Senate campaign in 2003 showing his support for the deadly practice.
Heres the key section of the transcript, as reported by the Weekly Standard:
Obama: I am pro-choice. Reporter: In all situations including the late term thing? Obama: I am pro-choice. I believe that women make responsible choices and they know better than anybody the tragedy of a difficult pregnancy and I dont think that its the governments role to meddle in that choice.
In a second video, the president says: I voted no on the late-term abortion ban, not because I dont recognize that these are painful issues but because I trust women to make these decisions.
We’re too busy throwing a guy with a 97 lifetime ACU rating through 2011 under the bus.
Look, I get what he said was wrong. But he’s a solid pro-lifer and a fine conservative on the basis of his record, which is a hell of a lot more than we can say for our Presidential nominee.
If you can vote for Romney because of the R, how about doing the same thing for Akin?
Open mouth insert foot.
That is all I have to say to Akin.
If you can vote for Romney because of the R, how about doing the same thing for Akin?
Good advice. The problem may be that too many of those attacking Akin that are going “R” for Romney lack the “C” (Conservative) for Akin
You and I are going to get along just fine if you aren’t careful. :)
You and I are going to get along just fine if you arent careful. :)
I think we will get along fine, I tend at times not to be careful :)
Stop characterizing what Akin said as a misuse of words, what he did was diminish the gravity of rape by trying to say, it’s not that big a deal, because hey, a woman’s body can just shut it down. He was trying to sound smart and informed, but it is now apparent for all to see, he is neither... the more you reduce the seriousness of what he did to simply misusing words only compounds what he did. It makes him and his 295 defenders look like total ignoramuses... surely STUPID will get this guy elected over a politically savvy witch.
