During it's Isaac coverage, the Weather Channel on Sunday referred repeatedly to Mississippi as the "landmass between New Orleans and Mobile".
Not to be outdone, a regular YP fan created a facebook page that has over 22,000 likes in less than 24 hours.
Long-term pet peeve of mine: Yankee newscasters who butcher the pronunciation of Biloxi, Gautier, and Pass Christian.
man..my wife got pinged on facebook by folks with that landmass site within seconds yesterday
folks all over it
hysterical all that other stuff too
Ole Mass
He is good for something on occasion besides being the dandy of the Grove.
that letter on there was really good
some of the what culture war jackasses here would do well to read it too
Thanks for the ping. This seems to a popular topic in Massasippi
Works for me, it would suit me down to the ground if they just forgot Mississippi’s existence. It’s not a good thing to be on the media’s or government’s radar. It just makes you a target.
Hey. I’m just north of Pass Rd in Biloxi. Nothing out of the ordinary here, weather-wise.
Proud to be a Landmassian, we live in North Landamssia and are praying for all who will be in the path of Issac. We will probably just get some much needed rain in North Landmassia.
Marshall Ramsay had a good program about how the MSM ignored Mississippi’s experience with Katrina. He stated an experience during a reporter’s forum he had up North where college kids didn’t even know Katrina hit Mississippi. TWC has become a joke of what it started up to be.
That’s OK — as a native of the Golden Triangle Region in northeast “Landmass”, I know I speak for at least a few of us when I say to TWC, “Well, bless your little heart!”
Very fond memories of that area...
” Landmassians “ = has ring to it!
TWC is surely left-ring.
God bless us all.
Great post!
Thank you from my heart for your courtesy ping. Yes, I know of your love for our Magnolia state and our wonderful people, which I delightedly share.
You’re right about TWC, which I rarely watch. Crepe hangers! Those folks seemingly live for disaster and seem disappointed whenever hurricanes dissipate.
God bless and keep you and everyone you love.
Praying mightily for everyone on Coast in ALL states.
Thinking of you all the time and praying for you and your precious family.
Traveler,
I am just north of you in Pace. It hasn’t rained here yet but the wind has blown a little.
Stay safe.
And that I attended The University of Southern Landmass? Huh?
So now they’ll change the name to Ole Mass?
So here's my part:
+ Born and raised in Landmass
+ Radio Announcer at both WSWG-FM and WGRM-AM, Greenwood, Landmass
+ Attended Landmass State University
+ Graduated (one year after SuziQ did also) from University of Southern Landmass
+ My youngest son is about the graduate from University of Southern Landmass
+ Learned to spell that archaic Chippewa word (meaning "Father of Waters") when I was 4 years old
