In the past, when able to do so, a man could leave his place of birth and go to wherever a better future could be had. This was the basis for the discovery and colonization of the New World, the Pilgrims voyage, the settlement of the western US, the massive migrations from Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries.
But today, exploration and discovery is finished, the planet will fill up and the people are being caged in, slowly and inevitably.
Unless some bright young scientist comes up with an economical way to leave this planet in search of a new world to settle, we are doomed to become like a caged pack of dogs with too little room and not enough food. War is the inescapable result........
