Yes. She crashed landed on the asylum planet, the daleks “fully converted” her but she retained enough of her humanity to fight back,
Since she didn’t interact with any of the main cast, they could have put anyone in there at the last minute without anyone knowing.

The part she played was integral to the episode. That is hardly a ‘pop in’ appearance.
The part she played will most like be integral to her becoming the new companion. Doctor Who did seem to have a moment of sadness when he discovered that she had actually been assimilated.
Considering the rampant and aggressive homosexuality of Russel T Davies and in the Torchwood spinoff, I’m surprised the new companion is actually a female...
Davies left as writer and producer a couple of years ago. Steve Moffat is the writer now and has been the executive producer since 2009.

I tried to like Torchwood but couldn’t hack the “in your face” homosexuality. I turned it off years ago. The new gal is a cutie though. I caught the show entirely by accident channel surfing.
So will her regular character be the twin sister? will the first one be her future self? or will DW be rehabbing her back to human?

I mostly liked Torchwood, but you're right on target about how the foolishly gratuitous flaunting of homosexuality and perversion at every turn was a distracting non-sequitur that damaged the series
I have only seen a couple episodes of the newer Dr. Who series - I have it available to view on demand through Amazon Prime - is it worth starting at the beginning, or is there a better place to hop onboard? I had a nagging feeling while viewing Torchwood that I was missing something by not having started by watching all of Dr. Who first.
Maybe she’ll be the companion AS a Dalek;

will still not remember him.
