Is that the kid from the overweight trailer trash family? I have to say that the first time I saw a commercial for one of those reality-brat shows, I thought it was a joke-y’all are right-those people who are so easily amused probably should not be able to vote for reasons of extreme distractibility...

Actually, I think the people who watch those choreographed train wrecks are the ones who are mentally impaired or heavily into drugs...

I was hiking this morning with one of my neighbors I met on the main trail in the woods, and we were talking about the communes of our youth-there were several very small ones in this area-and whether the idea “worked” or not.

We agreed that the basic concept-the sharing of defense, pastoral chores, and the food and other goods produced from gardening, hunting and keeping livestock, was sensible. Likewise, members selling or trading items/produce outside the commune-surplus fruit and vegetables, wool, baked goods, herbal concoctions, etc-individually or with others preserved a sense of individual accomplishment, and provided money for goods not produced on-site.

We also agreed that unless each family had and were personally responsible for their own income, spouse/mate, children, pets, personal vehicle(s) land and home, independent of the group, and unless every adult had an equal voice, moral and financial breakdown was bound to result. That is what happens to most communes-when everyone (or one leader) wants to share/divvy up income, land homes, spouses, pets, kids (other than to homeschool). You either end up with sexual/moral corruption, or an eventual mutiny. Some things just don’t need to be shared. In other words, socialism doesn’t even work in communes.

He jokingly said that if 12-24-2012 turns out to be the beginning of the end, maybe we should look at doing a small commune for this neighborhood with the like-thinking individuals-it does make some sense-I’d have to learn to spin wool, I guess...

Well, any agricultural vehicles-tractor, hay baler, etc would have to have the cost of purchase and operation divided in some way, whether in cash or by renting it out to others. Nobody else would be likely to use your truck, car, etc on a regular basis-you would need it yourself.

believe it or not, they use the term “boojie” on basketball wives to refer to someone who is putting on airs. LMAO when i heard them use it [and yes, i have watched that ridiculous show about 2-3 times bc xsteen put it on}
ok, i have a question: does anyone know what it is about Asians and frozen yogurt? we have several frozen yogurt places here which we love, and prefer to ice cream. every single time we go, the % is probably 90% asian, 10% other. Doesn’t matter if it’s Pinkberry or Red Mango or TangySweet. and the workers are generally NOT asian. i want to know what newsletter it went out in that that’s where they were to go.

Aren’t Asians (like everyone not from northern Europe) basically lactose intolerant? The froyo may be their only reasonable chance to have “ice cream” without suffering later.

This is just a theory. The only Asians here are running restaurants or nail parlors.

Never even considered lactose intolerance, maybe that’s it. I don’t know anyone who is lactose intolerant, Asian or otherwise.

I know several people. They WILL NOT have anything with milk. Never. I thought that was my problem, but alas, it’s not. I get the same symptoms from raw veggies and believe me, I LOVE them.

was talking to a colleague this AM about it and she said that Asians are typically lactose intolerant, so that does appear to explain it.
