Making war on Saudi Arabia after 9-11 would make about as much sense as prosecuting the Hearst family for the bank robbery her (kidnapped) daughter engaged in.
I’ve believed, and continue to believe, that an unstated reason for invading Iraq was to take out the big regional threat to Saudi Arabia and this allow us to reposition our forces out of Saudi this allowing the House of Saud to go to work on it’s internal troublemakers. Something that could have incited a Civil War had it taken place while US forces were still there.
In support of this, I’d not how quickly and thoroughly the US una$$ed from Saudi after the defeat of Saddam and his regime.
I’d also point out how little we’ve heard about the Saudi “street” and potential civil war since we’ve left. There was an article five or six years ago about how the House of Saud had broken it’s covenant with the Wahibbist clergy and were going after them with a (quiet) vengeance. But I haven’t been able to find it in a while.
The Saudis deserve to be shut down. They are a criminal enterprise. What is it that attracts American politicians to them? Philosophy? Religion? Their anti Zionist calls?Their friendliness? or money? Well if you don't pick the last one, you need to go back to the nursery. You are not ready for prime time.
The Saudis buy American political influence. They pay off politicians to rig the oil market for OPEC. Here they convince politicians to vote against home production of gas and oil. They drop their funds into foreign banks out of the reach of American regulators. Or, they pay retired politicians outrages fees for useless speeches (Clinton).
The Saudis are corrupting the American political system in a classic gangster style. so forget about 911. Take out the Saudis for the gangsters they are.
