Considering that woman are going into all the traditional male professions, I think some men are doing this to spite the ladies. Although could you imagine being an 18 year old male with all those woman? That might just be called paradise.

This may not be a bad thing.

My brother took care of me sometimes, when I was an infant and he was 17. He eventually got a masters in public health and became a skilled nursing facility administrator, providing care-giving for the elderly. One of his best proteges in the field was a male nurse who moved into nursing administration.

Also, this brings to mind the Russian royal family, who had a male nurse for their hemophiliac son. He was a devoted caregiver right up to dying with his patient, wasn’t he?
